FOUNDING EDITOR

CHERYL BOYCE TAYLOR is a poet, and founder of The Calypso Muse Reading Series, and The Glitter Pomegranate Performance Series. The author of three collections of poetry, she has run reading series and taught poetry at: The Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Bowery Poetry Club, Poets & Writers and Poets House. Her poetry has been commissioned by Jacobs Pillow, The Joyce Theater and the National Endowment for the Arts for Ronald K. Brown/ Evidence Dance Company. Cheryl’s poetry is currently etched in glass in a permanent exhibit at Brown University in Rhode Island titled, “LINES OF SIGHT” by artist Diane Samuels.

JANLORI GOLDMAN is a poet and teacher. Her chapbook, Akhmatova’s Egg, was recently published by Toadlily Press as part of its Quartet Series. Her first full-length manuscript has been a finalist in a number of contests, and her poems have appeared in Mead, The Cortland Review, Gwarlingo, Connotation Press, Mudlark, Calyx, Contrary, Rattle, The Sow’s Ear, Gertrude, and The Mom Egg. In 2013, Gerald Stern chose her poem ‘At the Cubbyhole Bar’ for the Raynes Prize. She is a writing mentor at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and teaches at Columbia University. CAITS MEISSNER  is a poet, transformational educator and vibrant creative force working at the intersection of art, community and justice. Her poetry of has been awarded first place prizes from the Pan-African Literary Forum and the Ja’Nai Foundation, and is published or forthcoming in various journals and anthologies including Drunken Boat, The Offing, Radius, The Feminist Wire and The Literary Review. She is the co-author of The Letter All Your Friends Have Written You, a collaborative poetry book with poet Tishon Woolcock. For over ten years, Caits has extensively facilitated youth and adults in poetry and multi-media expression in prisons, schools and community centers, and online at GrowFierce.com. YESENIA MONTILLA is a New York City poet with Afro-Caribbean roots. Her poetry has appeared in the Chapbook For The Crowns Of Your Head, as well as the literary journals: 5AM, Adanna, Wideshore and others. She received her MFA from Drew University in Poetry and Poetry in Translation. Her first collection of poetry The Pink Box is forthcoming from Willow Books in Fall 2015.

VINA TRAN is the Associate Director for the A&S Division of Humanities and Social Sciences at Columbia University. Previously, she worked at the Women Creating Change initiative at the Center for the Study of Social Difference, the Institute for Research on Women, Gender, and Sexuality, and the Center for Gender and Sexuality Law.  She has designed print/ online communications and websites for a variety of Columbia departments, organizations, and creative professionals.  She received her B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Women’s Studies from Pennsylvania State University and her M.A. in Gender, Sexuality and Cultural Studies from the University of Manchester.
